Letpads have done it again guys at the UCLAN students union awards for 2016. We won landlord of the year in 2015 and we were now voted finalists in 2016. Due to the consistency and extremely high level of student satisfaction we were very proud to get this accolade. We were in the final 3 nominated providers for 2016 and bearing in mind the number of landlords and letting agents there are within the category this in itself is an honour.

On top of this letpads were also given a special nomination for going well above and beyond the call of duty for the level of service expected in student Lettings. In short one of our tenants was locked out and unlike other landlords who advise to call locksmiths. We firstly answered her call immediately and upon listening to her issues we sent a member of staff to meet her at her home to ensure she could get in. We then copied her a set of keys so she could regain full access to her letpads home once again.

We were the only provider to receive this special nomination for 2016 which makes us extremely proud. Year on year we strive to improve what we do for our students studying at uclan. We constantly speak and interact with our students in Preston as it is only by listening to our UCLAN students that we can then fully understand what it is that we need to do for you, our tenants.

Many of our students were very topical on the recent eu referendum vote. It was really interesting to hear students thoughts and aspirations for the future and there reasons for which way they voted. As there was not any major percentage on voting to stay in the eu or voting to leave. Brexit really did get our uclan students talking and they talked even more once the results were out. Many were shocked it seems when the uk voted to leave the eu and brexit then became a reality.

Of course the aftermath of the eu vote is still with us now and what it will do to the uk economy is still uncertain. But with the resignation of the prime minister David Cameron and his cabinet nothing could now be overlooked. We now have a new female prime minister and she has swiftly appointed her own cabinet including the new chancellor Philip Hammond.

More recently the Bank of England have reduced the interest rate to an all time low of 0.25% which again has been a surprise to many in the financial world. However with brexit it seemed likely to happen. Mark carney the governor of the Bank of England has said we must prepare ourselves for a tough time in the near future. All this has been unprecedented as no country has ever left the eu so it is yet to remain to be seen how this will leave the uk and whether we will be seen as spear heading this new movement or if it will be to our disadvantage. But one thing is for sure it’s got our LETPADS students taking!!!!!!
