For many years, Christmas has been synonymous with charity. From Scrooge and Bob Cratchit to the modern day soup kitchens, the festive period is often thought of as a time for giving. So if you are a student in Preston this Christmas, what kind of charity opportunities can you get involved with? Well, here at Let Pads, we are Preston’s leading student accommodation providers. And as an active part of the local community, we have produced this guide to the different Christmas charity opportunities for Preston students.
What are some of the Christmas charity opportunities for Preston students?
In Preston this Christmas, there are a variety of volunteering and charity opportunities for any student. These include:
- Volunteering with the SU- UCLan SU and the University will be hosting a Christmas Day meal this year, and there are a couple of ways you can volunteer your time to get involved, and help combat loneliness this Christmas. This includes decoration making on Wednesday 18th December, decorating the venue itself on Monday 23rd December between 10am-1pm, and volunteering on 25th December to help the day run smoothly and successfully. For more information, check out the SU website.
- Volunteering with the Foxton Centre- A charity at the heart of the Preston community, the Foxton Centre helps the homeless community, as well as street sex workers and young people. They are always on the look out for volunteers, and if you don’t have too much time to offer, practical donations are much appreciated, especially at this time of year. Why not get your friends involved with collecting donations too? You can find out more information on the website.
You could help spread happiness this festive period, by spending just a small amount of time.
