A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) and BAE Systems with the intention of ensuring further, future collaboration between the two. This will focus on a range of business innovation initiatives to support Lancashire enterprises and the development of entrepreneurship training.
There is a strong ambition from both UCLan and BAE Systems to increase the pace of technology development and to harness the skills and facilities they can each provide, accelerating the process. The MoU also places and emphasis on the importance of the region for developing skills and technologies that can help Lancashire to retain and grow its reputation as a technology provider, with the aim of boosting regional prosperity.
There will be a number of different and new opportunities created as part of the MoU with BAE Systems adopting UCLan’s approach to innovation training in the development and trialling of a new entrepreneurship programme for employees. This is because UCLan’s Creative Innovation Zone is one of the UKs leading example in the development and delivery of innovative business thinking
Speaking on the matter, Vice-Chancellor Professor Graham Baldwin said:
“Our University is passionate about helping to level up the north and this exciting partnership with BAE Systems will help accelerate economic growth for the region through innovation, enterprise and knowledge exchange activities. It will also provide our students with real-world learning opportunities to enhance their knowledge and develop their future careers.”
