Preston is a popular student city, with an ever-growing campus, and it’s one of the most popular places to study. The university recently has taken the top prize for higher education providers at the Edufuturists Award 2023. The university of Central Lancashire (UClan) has been named ‘university of the year’ at an international awards ceremony. So, why should students choose Preston? Well, there are a number of reasons including:

Preston achieved above average improvements for health, transport, work-life balance, and more. There is a large student population in Preston, and you can get directly to Manchester in 39 minutes or London 2hr 9mintues 9to name a couple!)

If you are from a big city it’s nice to have a smaller university experience, bumping into friendly faces from classes doesn’t happen in big cities. It makes a massive difference rolling out of bed with just 10 minutes before your lecture and time to grab a coffee vs getting up an hour before so you can make multiple buses and/or tube. Time between lessons? Go home for a cheeky nap, hang out with friend.

The average price of a pint of larger is £2.3*

Ask any UClan students, we all love Jaffa’s, Coco’s and 3 Monkeys- cheap and flavourful.

Preston isn’t boring, it comes alive at night. There are some lovely cocktail bars from Kuckoo’s or Baluga. The Adelphi is fab for a pint, or the Mad Ferret for US-style food and for live music. If you fancy something sporty try Wings & Beer (they screen the NFL super Bowl).

For day time fresh air there is the Preston Guild Wheel, Avenham Park for sunny days or venture out to the Lake District (just under 1 hour)

Letpads offer fantastic accommodation across the city of Preston. We at Letpads have some fantastic accommodation for every individual need, ranging from flats to houses and some of them being a stone throw away from everything university related or a 10-minute walk. Preston is definitely the up and coming place to be. Don’t miss out on being part of this fantastic city.
